Welcome to Ask Shopi!
These Terms of Use explain the rules for using Ask Shopi, your trusted AI shopping agent. By using Ask Shopi, you agree to these terms. Here's what matters most:
- Ask Shopi is a shopping agent, not a store or marketplace
- We use AI to help you discover products based on your preferences
- Everyone gets unlimited shop searches and 10 personalized AI searches per month; Premium adds unlimited AI searches, saved favorites, and profile intelligence
- We never sell your individual data, show ads, or use affiliate links
- You must be 18+ to use Ask Shopi
- AI recommendations are helpful but not professional advice
- Ask Shopi learns your preferences over time to improve recommendations
1. Your Agreement to These Terms
Please read these Terms of Use (the "Terms") carefully. By accessing or using Ask Shopi's website, web application (including installable progressive web app), and services (collectively, the "Services"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you don't agree to these Terms, please don't use our Services. These Terms constitute a binding legal agreement between you and ShopVisorAI, Inc. ("Ask Shopi," "we," "us," or "our").
2. Changes to These Terms
We're constantly improving Ask Shopi, which means these Terms may need to change. We'll notify you of material changes by email, through the Services, or by posting a notice on our website.
If you don't agree with the updated Terms, you can stop using Ask Shopi. Continuing to use the Services after changes take effect means you accept the new Terms.
3. Your Privacy
We take your privacy seriously. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information. Your use of Ask Shopi is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
4. Age Requirements
You must be at least 18 years old to use Ask Shopi. The Services are not intended for children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
If we discover that we've collected information from someone under 18, we'll delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected].
5. Your Account
To access certain features, you'll need to create an account. When you do:
- Provide accurate, complete information
- Keep your account credentials secure
- You're responsible for all activity on your account
- Don't share your account or impersonate others
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
Ask Shopi supports several ways to sign in: passwordless magic link (recommended), a registered passkey, or traditional email/password. If you choose email/password, it's stored securely hashed via Supabase Auth—we never see or store it in plain text.
You may also use limited features of Ask Shopi without creating an account. Anonymous visitors can perform shop searches, subject to rate limits, to explore the platform before signing up. Creating a free account unlocks additional features including search history and personalization.
6. What Ask Shopi Is (and Isn't)
What Ask Shopi Is:
- An AI-powered shopping agent and product discovery platform
- A personalized recommendation service based on your preferences
- A tool to help you find products that match your needs
- A completely unbiased service with no affiliate relationships
What Ask Shopi Is NOT:
- Not a marketplace, store, or e-commerce platform
- Not a financial institution, credit bureau, or financial advisor
- Not providing professional advice (financial, legal, medical, etc.)
- Not an affiliate marketing platform or advertising network
- Not a guarantee or warranty for any products we recommend
Important: Ask Shopi provides product recommendations and search assistance only. We do not sell products, process purchases, or earn commissions from your purchases. All transactions occur directly between you and third-party retailers.
7. Subscription Plans & Pricing
Free Tier
Unlimited shop searches to browse and compare products across retailers, plus 10 personalized AI searches per month. Saved favorites and profile intelligence are available with a Premium subscription.
Premium Tier - $3.99/month (or $29.99/year)
Premium subscriptions unlock unlimited personalized AI searches, unlimited shop searches, saved searches and favorites, and profile intelligence that learns your preferences.
Chat with Ask Shopi
Ask Shopi includes a conversational AI agent that can help you with product comparisons, preference management, and shopping guidance, available to every signed-in account. To keep the service running smoothly for everyone, chat messages are rate-limited to 30 per minute—the same limit for Free and Premium.
Personalization & Learning
Ask Shopi uses a self-learning system to improve your recommendations over time. When you search, save favorites, dismiss a result, chat, or select a taste-preference chip, Ask Shopi creates observations about your preferences and interests. These are used to build a personalized profile that helps our AI tailor recommendations specifically to you. Your account settings let you clear this data: resetting your profile removes your memories and generated profile (your search history and favorites stay); deleting everything and starting fresh also removes your search history and favorites. Neither removes your account itself.
Payment Terms:
- Subscriptions are charged in advance to your payment method via Stripe
- Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or annually, depending on your plan) at the then-current price unless you cancel before the renewal date
- We'll notify you before each renewal period
- 14-Day Money-Back Guarantee: If you are not satisfied with your subscription, you may request a full refund within 14 days of your initial purchase or most recent renewal. Contact [email protected] to request a refund
- Cancellation: You can cancel your subscription anytime through the Stripe Customer Portal accessible from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period—you'll continue to have access until then
- We may change pricing with 30 days advance notice; changes apply at your next renewal
- If you don't agree to new pricing, cancel before renewal to avoid being charged
Free Trials: If we offer a free trial, you must cancel before the trial ends to avoid charges. If charged in error, contact [email protected].
8. Using Ask Shopi Responsibly
You agree to use Ask Shopi only for personal, non-commercial purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws. You may NOT:
- Use Ask Shopi for any commercial purpose or on behalf of third parties
- Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to access the authenticated app or search functionality (this doesn't apply to search engines and AI answer engines crawling our public marketing and product pages, which we welcome)
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract our AI models or algorithms
- Provide false, misleading, or deceptive information in your profile
- Intentionally manipulate search results or AI recommendations
- Violate any intellectual property rights or privacy rights of others
- Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
- Interfere with or disrupt the Services or our servers
- Impersonate others or create multiple accounts to abuse features
- Use the Services for illegal, harmful, or fraudulent activities
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, usage quotas, or access restrictions
Violation of these rules may result in suspension or termination of your account.
9. Your Content & Intellectual Property
Your Profile Data
You own your profile information, preferences, and personal data. By using Ask Shopi, you grant us a limited license to use this data to provide and improve the Services, including:
- Generating personalized recommendations
- Creating AI-powered insights about your shopping preferences
- Monitoring and improving the quality of Ask Shopi's prompts and product-matching logic
- Operating, securing, and maintaining the platform
Data Licenses
Private Data: Your personal profile data, search history, and favorites are private. We only use this data as described in our Privacy Policy and these Terms.
Feedback & Suggestions: If you provide feedback, ideas, or suggestions about Ask Shopi, you grant us the right to use them without compensation or attribution.
Your account settings offer two self-service options: resetting your profile (deletes your memories and generated profile document; personalization stops, but your search history and favorites remain) or deleting everything and starting fresh (also removes your search history and favorites). Neither removes your sign-in account itself. To request complete account deletion, including your login, email [email protected]—this is currently a manual process. Some data may remain in backups or be retained as required by law.
Our Intellectual Property
Ask Shopi's platform, AI technology, algorithms, design, branding, and content are owned by ShopVisorAI, Inc. and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our permission.
10. AI-Powered Services - Important Notice
Ask Shopi uses artificial intelligence (AI) powered by advanced language models to generate product recommendations. Our AI is powered by multiple providers, including Perplexity (our primary model for search and product recommendations), Anthropic Claude (our chat, For You feed, and profile-personalization model, plus content moderation), and OpenAI (embeddings and Top Picks verdict reasoning). The specific models used may change as technology evolves. Here's what you need to know:
- AI is Probabilistic: Our AI analyzes patterns and makes predictions, but it may occasionally provide inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated information.
- Not Professional Advice: AI recommendations are NOT a substitute for professional advice from qualified experts (financial advisors, doctors, lawyers, etc.).
- Verify Before Purchasing: Always verify product details, pricing, availability, and specifications with the retailer before making a purchase decision.
- Personal Use Only: AI-generated recommendations are for your personal use and should not be shared publicly or used commercially.
- No Deceptive Inputs: Don't try to manipulate the AI with misleading profile information or queries designed to produce incorrect results.
- Content Moderation: Search queries are reviewed by automated AI systems and may be flagged if they contain inappropriate content. Flagged queries may be excluded from certain features.
You acknowledge and agree: Relying on AI-generated recommendations without independent verification is done at your own risk. We are not responsible for decisions you make based on AI recommendations.
11. Third-Party Links & Services
Ask Shopi provides links to third-party websites and retailers through AI-powered web search for finding official product pages. We also use third-party services to operate our platform:
- Supabase: Cloud infrastructure, database, and authentication
- Perplexity: Our primary AI model for product search and recommendations, with real-time web search built in
- Anthropic: Primary AI model (Claude) powering Ask Shopi chat, the For You feed, profile-document generation, and content moderation
- OpenAI: Text-embedding generation for semantic memory matching, plus AI-authored reasoning for the Top Picks verdict feature
- Stripe: Payment processing for Premium subscriptions
- PostHog: Product analytics and error tracking (with Do Not Track support). Session recording is built with input masking but not currently turned on
- Serper: Search API for product URL resolution
- Resend: Transactional email delivery
Important: We don't control third-party websites, products, services, or content. When you click external links or make purchases from retailers:
- You're subject to that retailer's terms, privacy policy, and return policy
- We're not responsible for product quality, pricing, availability, or fulfillment
- We don't earn commissions or fees from your purchases
- Any disputes are between you and the retailer
You release Ask Shopi from any liability arising from your interactions with third-party websites, retailers, or service providers.
12. Changes to the Service
We're constantly improving Ask Shopi. We may add new features, modify existing features, or discontinue features at any time. We may also impose limits on certain features or restrict access to parts of the Services. We'll try to notify you of material changes, but we're not always able to do so. We may also remove any content from the Services at our discretion.
13. Account Termination
You Can Leave Anytime
You can clear your data anytime through your account settings—reset your profile (removes memories and personalization data) or delete everything and start fresh (also removes your search history and favorites). To request full account deletion, including your sign-in credentials, email [email protected]—this is currently a manual process handled by our team, not an automated deletion. Please see our Privacy Policy for information on data retention.
We Can Suspend or Terminate Your Account
We may suspend or terminate your access to Ask Shopi if:
- You violate these Terms or our policies
- We suspect fraudulent or illegal activity
- Your account has been inactive for an extended period
- We're required to do so by law
- Continuing to provide Services creates risk for us or others
We'll try to provide advance notice before terminating your account so you can retrieve your data, but we may not be able to in all situations (for example, for legal or security reasons).
What Happens After Termination
Termination may result in deactivation of your account and removal of your personalization data. Search history, favorites, and subscription records may be retained for audit, legal compliance, or dispute resolution purposes and will be deleted in accordance with our data retention policy. If your account was terminated by mistake, contact us immediately—we may be able to help, but we can't guarantee data recovery.
14. Disclaimers & Limitations
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT LIMITS OUR LIABILITY TO YOU.
"AS IS" SERVICE: THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
NO GUARANTEE OF ACCURACY: WE DON'T GUARANTEE THAT AI RECOMMENDATIONS WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR RELIABLE. PRODUCT INFORMATION, PRICING, AND AVAILABILITY MAY BE OUTDATED OR INCORRECT.
NO PROFESSIONAL ADVICE: NOTHING IN THE SERVICES CONSTITUTES FINANCIAL, LEGAL, MEDICAL, OR OTHER PROFESSIONAL ADVICE. YOU SHOULD CONSULT QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS FOR ADVICE SPECIFIC TO YOUR SITUATION.
SERVICE AVAILABILITY: WE DON'T GUARANTEE THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE. WE MAY EXPERIENCE DOWNTIME, BUGS, OR TECHNICAL ISSUES.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITY: YOU USE THE SERVICES AT YOUR OWN RISK. YOU'RE RESPONSIBLE FOR VERIFYING INFORMATION AND MAKING YOUR OWN DECISIONS.
15. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
ASK SHOPI, ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND LICENSORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, DATA LOSS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES ARISING FROM:
- Your use or inability to use the Services
- AI-generated recommendations or product suggestions
- Purchases made based on our recommendations
- Unauthorized access to your account or data
- Third-party content, products, or services
- Any other matter related to the Services
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM THE SERVICES SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) $100, OR (B) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.
SOME JURISDICTIONS DON'T ALLOW EXCLUSIONS OR LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY, SO THE ABOVE MAY NOT FULLY APPLY TO YOU.
16. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Ask Shopi, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including attorney fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Services, (b) your violation of these Terms, (c) your violation of any third-party rights, or (d) any content you submit through the Services.
17. Disputes & Arbitration
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Arbitration Agreement
Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising from these Terms or the Services shall be resolved through binding arbitration rather than in court, except that you may assert claims in small claims court if they qualify.
CLASS ACTION WAIVER: YOU AND ASK SHOPI AGREE THAT ANY PROCEEDINGS TO RESOLVE DISPUTES WILL BE CONDUCTED ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS. YOU WAIVE YOUR RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN CLASS ACTIONS, CLASS ARBITRATIONS, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTIONS.
18. General Legal Terms
Entire Agreement: These Terms and our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Ask Shopi regarding the Services.
No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision doesn't waive our right to enforce it later.
Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
Assignment: You may not transfer these Terms or your account without our written consent. We may transfer our rights without restriction.
No Agency: Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, or agency relationship between you and Ask Shopi.
Survival: Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and arbitration provisions) will survive.
